Create your own custom made, unique, botanically bundle dyed organic cotton bandana! Introduction to The Dye Lab: Beginner Basics Bundle Dye with Amy Garbark Date: Saturday, May 2, 2026 Time: 10am – 1pm Description: In this beginner friendly workshop, participants will learn how to bundle dye on cloth, using plants, flowers, and other natural sources, while gaining an introduction to the Beth Wainwright Dye Lab facility here in the Fibers Studios of Contemporary Craft. Join us to make your own scarf/bandana or cotton market tote using a collection of dried flowers that were grown, collected, and saved from Amy’s dye garden + some additional materials. As Amy shares, and we can attest, “unbundling your first (and every!) bundle feels a little bit magical!” Come out and join us for a little bit of magic and plant appreciation! Each participant will go home with their own custom made, unique, botanically bundle-dyed organic cotton bandana! Bundle-dyeing is a process by which natural dye stuff (plants and flowers) are rolled tightly into a cloth bundle. From there, heat and water are used to transfer the traces of color directly onto the cloth. The result: “a little bit of magic” and a colorfully dyed cloth! This process is beginner friendly and is a great first step into natural dye processes! All materials included and supplied. Tuition: $65+ $15 materials fee Note: We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to offset some of the financial burden of attending a class. Please fill out the application here! You can expect to hear from someone on the CC staff within 2 weeks.
