In this week beginner workshop, go from pile of yarn to woven cloth in one week, while learning some fun techniques and making new friends! Weeklong Intensive: Introduction to Weaving Date: Monday, June 22 – Friday June 26 Time: 10am – 5pm (daily!) Description: Let’s dive deep into weaving for a week! This is a 100% beginner weaving workshop, where we will learn to use multi-harness floor looms to create cloth! We will work with 8-harness looms, and explore myriad ways of creating interlacements of warp and weft to create cloth! Because of the “intensive” format of this workshop, we will be able to immerse oursleves completely in the fun and magic of weaving and using a loom. You can expect to learn how to go from having bunch of cones or balls of yarn to woven cloth! We will go through steps and ways to dress the loom (that means get the yarn on the loom) and we will try different techniques for interlacing yarn. We will look at drafts and patterns and we will talk some histories and other fun contexts too! Our goal will be a woven sampler of possibilities and a foundation for future weaving work! Tuition: $425 + $30 materials fee Note: We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to offset some of the financial burden of attending a class. Note, this workshop will take place in the Fleischner Family Fibers Loft, which is on the second floor of the building. There are 2 entrances to the Timmons Studios. • One entrance is facing Butler Street. To access the Fibers Loft from the Butler Street facing entrance, there are a total of 32 stairs to ascend. • One entrance is facing 57th Street. This entrance is accessible by ramp, with no stairs to ascend. There is a lift inside the building to access the second floor. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date.
