Make your own handcrafted jewelry and explore the fundamentals of Metalsmithing! 8-Week Workshop Series Date: Tuesdays, September 8-October 27, 2026 Time: 6pm-9pm Description: Learn to design and construct your own jewelry. You will be introduced to a range of metalsmithing basics such as: Basic metalsmithing skills of sawing, piercing, filing and sanding Basic cold connections of flush, flat, and tube rivets How to use a torch to anneal and solder metal Patinas and metal finishing options Elements and principles of design Tuition: $295 + $50 materials fee Materials: All materials will be provided We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to offset some of the financial burden of attending a class. Please fill out the application here; you can expect to hear from someone on the CC staff within 2 weeks. Location: Contemporary Craft – Raphael Building (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201) Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. ANY WORKSHOP OR INDIVIDUAL SESSION CANCELLATIONS WILL BE COMMUNICATED VIA EMAIL. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. About the Artist Chelsea Attwood is a metalsmith and educator whose practice began in her father’s jewelry studio, fostering a lifelong connection to metalworking. She earned her BFA from Edinboro University in 2006 with a focus in metals and subsequently taught workshops throughout the Pittsburgh area while serving as adjunct faculty at CCAC and the Art Institute. During this time, she also created and exhibited a jewelry line at regional craft shows.Driven by her passion for education, Attwood completed her studies in art education at Carlow University and has been teaching in the classroom since 2012. She maintains an active studio practice across multiple mediums as a daily discipline, with metalworking remaining her primary focus. For Attwood, returning to the jeweler’s bench is “like coming home,” reflecting the deep personal connection that continues to drive her artistic work.
