Workshops

Dive deep into the wonders of flax—and how it becomes linen—and weave a small work of art that showcases this amazing fiber! 3-hour workshop Date: Saturday, April 18 Time: 10am – 1pm Description: Join Erin Carlson for a contemplative workshop, focused on the wonders of the flax fiber! While talking through the journey from flax seed to plant to linen, Erin will guide participants through the process of weaving on a small frame loom with linen yarn, as well as dried flax plants grown last year here on the Contemporary Craft campus! This class is perfect for anyone who might be interested in the meditative potential of weaving on a frame loom. And, it is equally great for anyone curious about learning more about growing flax and processing it into linen (processes that will be discussed in this class). You can expect to leave the class with a new, or renewed, appreciation for the amazing flax fiber, and a small weaving on a frame loom, ready to hang on your wall at home! Tuition: $65 + $20 materials fee (if you are viewing this listing on your phone, scroll down to the bottom of the page for the class registration link) Materials: all materials are included. Note: We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to alleviate some of the financial burden of attending a class. Scholarship application is found at this link. You can expect to hear from someone on the CC staff within 2 weeks.
