Community Workshops

FREE | Thursdays August 20th and 27th | 6 - 7:30 pm Are you a Storyteller? Join our 2023 Craigardan Alumni Yoko and story partner Michael McGuire for a casual two-night workshop on storytelling. Week 1. Yoko and Michael will walk you through a framework designed to encourage the storyteller in each one of us and craft your own amazing story. Touching on genre, topics, story prompts, and person-to-person story sharing, participants will be invited to explore new ways of accessing the deep well of your personal experience, identifying stories that excite you.  Week 2. Applebarn Story Swap. Using tools from Week 1, storytellers will come together around our “campfire” and tell our stories. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to highlight any epiphanies, thoughts, or revelations that you experienced during the week with your story or anything else brilliant that you would like to share. Registration is encouraged. Location: Main Campus - Applebarn. Look for Craigardan signs at the end of the Main Campus driveway (two “doors” west of the farm store, towards Keene). Google Maps Link Register Here Michael “Yoko” Amos spent High School in the Bronx cutting class and learning to mix music in his bedroom: a collection that stretched from his mothers eclectic taste: Blood, Sweat, and Tears; Dizzy Gillespie; thumbed thru Aretha Franklin to Carmen McRae with splashes of Odeta, Richie Havens and a strong dose of Calypso! Michael now travels through life writing his own soundtrack. He became a DJ for family reunions, local parties, clubs, and working the wedding circuit. He can now be found spinning at parties on the east coast from Upstate NY to Florida, and from Columbia, South America to northern Minnesota. He currently resides in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Reflecting back on the musical arc of his life, Michael spreads love through assisting any being who connects to the vibration and is moved in some way with the music he plays. Michael considers himself a 64 year-old “working DJ” who has developed a knack for deep moving and connecting with crows and music.
