Event: The Great Scarecrow Walk

Build a scarecrow, walk the sunflower field at dusk & support Schuylerville FFA! Bills game, costumes, pumpkins & spooky fun. Harvest season gets a lot of attention in the beer world. Oktoberfests. Pumpkin ales. Steins. So much of it is centered around “the harvest” — without much mention of the barley, hops, or farmers that make beer possible in the first place. And in an industry so dependent on agriculture, that feels worth talking about. In just ten years, the U.S. lost roughly 35 million acres of farmland and more than 200,000 farms. Add in an average farmer age of 58, and the question becomes pretty simple: Who comes next? That question is personal for us. Dancing Grain exists because our founder left a corporate career to come home and help build a future for her family’s farm. But we know we’re far from the only farm family wondering how to make agriculture viable for another generation. So this harvest season, we’re partnering with Schuylerville FFA (Future Farmers of America) to make that serious conversation a whole lot more fun. THE GREAT SCARECROW WALK On November 1, FFA students will help build and install scarecrow frames throughout the sunflower field — then help all of you bring them to life. $40 includes: A Dancing Grain-grown pumpkin A bale of Dancing Grain-grown straw A scarecrow frame waiting in the field Admission for 4 to walk the field at dusk. Tickets can be purchased on our website shop. https://dancinggrain.com/ $10 from every package goes directly to Schuylerville FFA to support agricultural education. And your pumpkin gets two lives: pick it up before Halloween, carve it for your porch, then bring it back November 1 to become your scarecrow’s head. If that’s not recycling, we don’t know what is. Don’t want to build one? Walk the field for $5 — 100% of admission proceeds benefit Schuylerville FFA. 11 AM — Build 1 PM — Bills vs. Ravens 4 PM — The Great Scarecrow Walk Costumes encouraged. Bring a flashlight. Things get a little spooky after sunset.
