Join us for an extraordinary afternoon of classical chamber music as the acclaimed Cynosure Piano Trio takes the stage. Composed of three of Alaska's most prominent classical musicians, the ensemble is celebrated nationally for its captivating elegance, technical brilliance, and powerful collaborative dynamic. Featured Program: Sergei Rachmaninoff - Trio Élégiaque No. 1 in G minor Written when the composer was just 18 years old. A deeply passionate, single-movement romantic work. Features a hauntingly beautiful, mournful opening theme. Concludes with a dramatic, somber funeral-march rhythm. Joaquín Turina - Piano Trio No. 2 in B minor, Op. 76 A vibrant, colorful three-movement piece written in 1933. Blends traditional Spanish folk rhythms with classical structures. Infused with lush, luminous French impressionist textures. Showcases a bright, driving, dance-like energy. Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Trio in B-flat major, Op. 97 ("Archduke") Widely considered the greatest piano trio ever written. Dedicated to Beethoven's patron, Archduke Rudolph of Austria. A monumental, expansive four-movement masterwork. Balances noble grandeur with playful, symphonic-scale phrasing. Meet the Ensemble Eduard Zilberkant (Piano): A world-renowned concert pianist and conductor.
