Gualala Arts presents The Times They Are a Changin’, an inspiring evening of music by local performers on Saturday, October 17 at 7 p.m. The concert takes its name from the iconic Bob Dylan song and explores the idea of change—personal, cultural, and historical—through powerful musical storytelling. “We are all experiencing Big Changes in this day and time. All of us, in different and same ways. As Dylan said times are always changing and in fact, change can actually be helpful to us, hard as that may be. Our show is not just another political message….it is a retrospective using music to show you why Change has been needed at different times, why Change was imperative but challenging for so many of us and others in times past, and yet how Change was definitely accomplished.” says Richard Lotspeich As Dylan said back in 1964 we have been here before many times in our nation’s history. Artists, poets, musicians, dancers– all and more have brought their heart and soul to us during those times which spoke to the reason change has been needed, There have been challenges and hope for these changes, and by working together we have accomplished needed change. In this show talented and soulful musicians in our coastal community will be singing some of the important music that has come from those times. “The message we want to leave you with is that each of us has something sacred and important to offer and by working together during these difficult, uncertain times and with everyone bringing their highest selves despite differences of opinion, positive changes can be made. Change is inevitable and it is a good thing, teaching us, helping us, joining us together. It is my wish and my honor to tell this story throughout our time together on October 17th.” shares Richard Lotspeich We bring this music to you with an amazing cast of local musicians. Join us for an evening of heartfelt music, community connection, and a celebration of the transformative power of change. 501(c)(3) Tax ID# 94-6121872 The Gualala Arts Center gratefully acknowledges the Native Peoples whose ancestral homelands we now share, and specifically the Pomo of Kashia and Manchester-Point Arena tribes, the first inhabitants of what is now coastal Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. We recognize the legacies of displacement and settlement that bring us together here and honor our shared commitment to being respectful and responsible protectors of land, water, people, arts, and culture.
