Join this relaxing class to create a miniature Kawandi quilt (mug mat). This unique hand-stitched patchwork tradition, originating from a group of people of African descent in western India, uses torn scraps of fabric layered on wool felt squares and then stitched by hand. A Phula (flower), a triangular fabric tassel, is sewn into each corner of the quilt for good luck. Minimum 4. Maximum 10 students Materials: Materials provided by the instructor to make one mug mat. Bring your favorite fabric scraps or use those provided by the instructor.
