“Pitch Side” Opens at CityArts on July 16

Pitch Side brings together artists shaped by the rhythm of the world’s game, where discipline, failure, and repetition become a language of making. Inspired by jogo bonito — the beautiful game — the exhibition captures the culture surrounding soccer, from street pitches to stadium lights, with a particular nod to the tactile energy of 90s play: oversized jerseys, heavy shin guards, worn fields, and long practices that blurred effort into identity. For many, the field was the first studio, a place where failure wasn’t an end but part of the process, where movement, timing, and instinct were learned through doing.
