From El Cerrito Historical Society

Don Hardison (1916-2012) was an important Bay Tradition modern architect whose firm designed such major projects as the Zellerbach-Student Union complex at UC Berkeley, the trend-setting Easter Hill housing in Richmond, and many schools, churches, community centers, residential neighborhoods and custom homes throughout the Bay Area. He and his wife Betty were deeply involved in the El Cerrito-Richmond community. Let’s visit one of his early (1952), beautifully preserved, and favorite homes, just over the Richmond line from El Cerrito. Hear from architectural journalist Dave Weinstein and from the home owner, Jan Brown, a designer and the daugher of Don and Betty. The event is free, but spaces are limited and preference will be given to society members who RSVP before October 1, 2026 to [email protected]. Non-members who RSVP before October 1 will be put on the waiting list. To join the society ($30 annual membership fee), click here. The location will be provided to guests shortly before the event. Refreshments will be served.
