About this event
One of 13 upcoming events at Enoch Pratt Free Library - Brooklyn Branch, and 571 across Baltimore.
Travel back in time to the Cretaceous Period, when vast oceans covered the Earth and tiny marine organisms began building the foundations of something extraordinary—chalk! In this family-friendly program, discover what chalk is made of, how it forms over millions of years, and the fascinating journey from ancient seas to the stone beneath our feet. Explore the science behind this everyday material, then get creative as you make your own chalk and take part in a fun chalk-the-dots activity. This program includes a unique opportunity to engage in a fossil hunt at the library guided by Sam Glasscock, Environmental Scientist and volunteer at the Natural History Society of Maryland. Presented in partnership with Natural History Society of Maryland – Exploring & Preserving Maryland's Natural Treasures
