Chamber Project St. Louis presents Presence — Honoring the Past by Living Today on April 18, 2026, in the newly renovated Hotchkiss Chapel at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum. This intimate one-hour chamber music program will be offered twice, at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Set deep within the trees of this historic Level 3 Arboretum, the restored chapel provides a resonant and contemplative setting for a program that explores memory, lineage, and what it means to live fully in the present. The program features: Kenji Bunch (b. 1973) — Until Next Time for solo viola scordatura Alexander Shaposhnikov (1903–1985) — Sonata for Flute and Harp Sally Greenaway (b. 1968) — Memories of Trees for flute and string trio Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827) — String Trio No. 5 in C minor, Op. 9 No. 3 Following each performance, Bellefontaine staff will lead short historic walking tours of the area surrounding the chapel, offering audiences an opportunity to further engage with the cultural and natural history of the site. The 314-acre site, founded in 1849, features a historic, park-like landscape with extensive labeled, woody plant collections. Due to the intimate size of the venue, seating is limited. Advance tickets are recommended.
