Look closely, then make something your own! Inspired by Sadie Barnette: How to Fly, this interactive workshop invites participants to explore the exhibition through observation and design. After a short guided “looking” activity in the Atrium, guests will choose colors, patterns, and textures from the installation that resonate with them. Participants will then create a custom phone charm or keychain using beads, cord, and charms. With optional design tips from Design Hive facilitators, guests can experiment with pattern, rhythm, and balance while crafting a personal keepsake inspired by the artwork. Design Hive is a Los Angeles–based creative education studio that designs hands-on maker workshops and STEAM experiences for museums, schools, and community organizations. Their programs invite participants of all ages to explore creativity through accessible, materials-based design activities.
