Set 1: be not afraid Be Not Afraid is the moniker of Corey A. Curtis’ decentralizing folk art practice. Relying heavily on handmade “noise boxes” built of salvaged materials and open source circuits designed by artist such as Peter Blasser, Ida Hiršenfelder, Martin Freeman, Travis Johns, etc., Be Not Afraid utilizes simple transistor oscillators and CMOS logic chips to explore “the letting go of control, anxiety, and perfection.” Dabbling in spatial sound and crowd participation he also likes to blur the lines between audience and performer.
