From Queens Public Library

Did you know that bees pollinate about 1 in 3 bites of the food we eat? Or that bees are not all yellow and black — some are even blue or green? There are over 400 species of bees in New York State! Join us and The Bee Conservancy’s Program Manager, Amy Grumbling, to learn about the rich variety of bees in New York and their importance to our food systems and the environment. We will also share some ways that YOU can actively support bee conservation, from planting local ecotype plants to community science! The Bee Conservancy is a nonprofit based in New York City, with a mission to protect all bees and foster thriving food and ecosystems through community-based education, research, habitat creation, and advocacy in urban and underserved areas.
