Join Ceres and Farm. One for an evening of food, drinks, and films exploring how imagination can change what we consider food waste. Inspired by the tomato, the evening brings together Wen-Jay Ying, founder of Local Roots, and Joe McDowell, founder of Acid, a sustainable spirits company, for a collaborative food and drink experience featuring a living grazing table from Local Roots and cocktails crafted with ACID tomato spirit, custom distilled for this event. We’ll screen a selection of short films exploring sustainability, resourcefulness, and closed-loop food systems: from an homage to the tomato, to the UK’s first fine-dining zero-waste restaurant, to a story of innovation from sea to table. The evening comes together for a conversation moderated by FoodPrint director Jerusha Klemperer with Wen-Jay Ying and Joe McDowell. Together they will explore the challenges of transforming our food system and consider: what if waste is just a failure of the imagination? Afterward, guests are invited to stay, mingle, and continue enjoying food and drinks available at the bar through 8:30 PM. Films: Amoris Pomum – Directed by Felipe Sanguinetti | Runtime 4 mins Narrated by Argentine actor Ricardo Darín, this lush and vibrant short is an ode to the beauty and complexity of the tomato. Featuring the words of a 1971 poem by Pablo Neruda, Sanguinetti describes the idea as an attempt to “capture the beauty and realism of nature and its fruit, the relationship between man and Mother Nature, the last of the summer days, and, in the intensity of this short film, a part of our Uruguayan experience.” A Failure of the Imagination – Directed by Matt Hopkins | Runtime 10 mins Following five years in the life of Silo, the UK’s first fine-dining zero-waste restaurant, the film traces founder and chef Douglas McMaster’s attempt to challenge the unsustainable practices of the modern food system by reimagining what a restaurant can be. Fragmentos de Mar – Directed by Wolf Lass | Runtime 7 mins Presented by Studio davidpompa and Contramar restaurant in Mexico City, this short explores transformation and the poetry of materials. Discarded clam shells from Contramar’s signature clam ceviche are transformed into sculptural objects and lighting, including pieces used in the restaurant itself. The film traces their journey from sea to table, and from table to new forms, celebrating craft, origin, and renewal. Evening Program: 6:00 PM – Doors open; living grazing table & cocktails 6:20-6:55 PM – Short Film Program The full short film program will screen twice in an adjoining screening space, beginning at 6:20 PM and again at 6:40 PM, so guests can move easily between the films and the food and drink experience in the main room. 7:00 PM – Conversation with Wen-Jay Ying and Joe McDowell, moderated by Jerusha Klemperer 7:45-8:30 PM – Drinks, mingling & time to enjoy Farm. One Tickets: Early Bird · $35 General Admission · $40 Your ticket includes the Local Roots living grazing table and one 1x cocktail or mocktail featuring ACID spirits. Additional beverages will be available for purchase at the Farm. One bar.
