Join the Associate Curator of American Art at the Farnsworth Art Museum, Francesca Soriano, for a guided walk through the galleries to view the exhibition MAINE: A Force Within American Art (1890–2026). This walk offers a focused look at select works from the early 20th century and themes from her unique curatorial perspective. The unique role that Maine played in the work of Marsden Hartley (1877–1943), Georgia O’Keeffe (1887–1986), and John Marin (1872–1953) will be particularly highlighted. Guests will have the opportunity to interact, ask questions, and have a behind-the-scenes glimpse into specific portions of the exhibition. The walk will last approximately 30 minutes, after which guests will have the opportunity to explore the remaining galleries independently. Francesca Soriano is the Associate Curator of American Art at the Farnsworth Art Museum. She holds a PhD from Boston University in the History of Art and Architecture with a specialization in 19th and 20th century American art. Francesca has held positions at the Colby College Museum of Art, where she did her undergraduate degree, the Dallas Museum of Art, Di Donna Galleries in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA, as well as a research fellowship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
