Member Moments: Unboxing Mechau

Join us for a special members-only unboxing of Winter Pastures, an oil study by Frank Mechau from around 1936 that is joining the Fine Arts Center’s collection. Be among the first to see the painting as it is unpacked after its arrival. Recently deaccessioned by the Detroit Institute of Arts and generously offered to the FAC, the painting provides a fascinating opportunity to learn about the artist, its similarities to our own Mechau courtyard mural Wild Horses, and the careful work involved in shipping, unpacking, preserving, and caring for works of art in our collection.
