About this event

Join us in the dark for the brightest meteor shower of the year!  Since development is not allowed on Canadice Lake, there is very little light pollution – making it the premier place in the region to witness the wonders of the night sky!  In collaboration with Canadice Lake Outfitters (https://www.canadicelakeoutfitters.com/), we are pleased to offer a night paddle under sparkling skies. Meteor showers arise when Earth passes through streams of debris left behind in the wake of comets and asteroids.  The collision of this debris with the Earth’s atmosphere creates shooting stars and dazzling celestial fireworks that light up the night sky! The Perseids are one of the most prolific meteor showers of the year, producing rich, bright streaks and fireballs – as many as 100 meteors per hour are visible on a clear night!  The peak viewing time for the Perseids is August 12-14, so we should have quite a show that night! Bring your own boat, or rent a kayak from us – and enjoy the show! *Please note that there are two ticket options for this event. Choose the “Guided Paddle & Rental” option to have everything provided for you (kayak, paddle, and life jacket) Choose the “Guided Paddle” option to bring your own kayak, paddle, and life jacket
