The moderate level consists of hiking with a pack of 25lbs, for 2 miles, in under 30 minutes. The arduous requires hiking with a pack of 45 lbs, for 3 miles in under 45 minutes. Completion of the arduous pack test in conjunction with the S130/190 class will make you eligible for a red card, which certifies you to be a wildland firefighter. To deploy on a wildfire incident, you will need to apply as a firefighter at a participating fire agency. Completion of the moderate pack test in conjunction with the S130/190 is sufficient to be eligible to burn with some local prescribed fire specialists, such as Fontenelle Forest. Fontenelle is always looking for more qualified FFT2 volunteers for their spring and fall prescribed fires. You are required to provide your own weighted pack.
