From Fort Greene Park

Join us for a 2-hour Shibori/Resist Dyeing workshop (followed by a 30-min after-class tea time) hosted by artist and educator Nelise Bey, where you will be introduced to Shibori, a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique used to create patterned textiles through folding, binding, and compressing fabric before dyeing. Workshop participants will learn the basics of Shibori by creating their own naturally dyed bandana using simple folding and binding techniques. The workshop will take place at Fort Greene Park on South Monument Lawn from 10:30AM-1:00PM on September 12 (rain date: September 13). Get in touch with nature and your creative side and join us in the park! RSVP Required. No prior skills necessary! Please bring a blanket, mat, or preferred seat. Slow Skills to Sustain You is a series of workshops designed to help you move closer to your goal of living more intentionally by slowing down the pace of life and appreciating the present moment.
