The Spirit of Christmas

Michael Murphy Presents: The Spirit of Christmas is a new holiday concert created to capture the warmth, wonder, and togetherness of the Christmas season through an unforgettable evening of music. Led by Wisconsin- and Nashville-based singer/songwriter Michael Murphy, the show brings together an exceptional ensemble of musicians from throughout the Fox Cities for fresh interpretations of beloved Christmas classics, brand-new original holiday songs, and stunning instrumental selections—including specially arranged works by Dean Marshall. Familiar songs are given new life through thoughtful, dynamic arrangements that honor the music audiences know and love while offering something refreshing and unexpected. At the heart of the production is a celebration of community. The concert will feature an immensely talented group of Wisconsin musicians, including the HD Horns, Mike Kapp, Greg McMonagle, Joe Slyzelia (Sly Joe), Mike Underwood, and Ross Catterton. It will also feature Touch of Class from Neenah High School, under the direction of Phil Smyth, bringing an outstanding young ensemble into the show, creating beautiful moments that connect generations onstage and in the audience. The Spirit of Christmas is presented in partnership with the YMCA of the Fox Cities and directly benefits its Mission In Action Campaign, which provides financial assistance and program scholarships so that individuals and families throughout the community can access the Y regardless of their ability to pay. Through Mission In Action, support is provided for memberships, child care, swim lessons, youth sports, wellness initiatives such as LIVESTRONG, and other programs that strengthen the Fox Cities community. By bringing together extraordinary local musicians, young performers, new music, cherished Christmas traditions, and a meaningful community cause, Michael Murphy Presents: The Spirit of Christmas aims to become more than an annual concert. It is an evening about music, family, generosity, and the feeling that makes this time of year so special—a celebration of the true spirit of Christmas.
