Creative Community Meet-Up

Community stories. Creative pop-ups. Art installations. New to Austin? Or need time to reconnect? Come through for a classic Austin meet-up at Future Front on Saturday, April 11 from 11 AM to 1 PM CT. As always, this meet-up is open to all. All are welcome.  Scroll for more details.   WHAT TO EXPECT ① Austin-local pop-ups from The Front Market by Laurel Small Batch Goods, Blemmye Ceramics and Fehr Objects ② Community announcements and stories ③ Tours of Future Front’s current exhibit, "In the days of various light" by Xochi Solis ④ DJ set from Future Front’s Residency ⑤ Open hours to explore 12th Street small businesses and creative studios ABOUT THE LOCATION → The Schedule 11:00 AM — Meet at Future Front to settle in. This is a good time to explore our newest show, grab a cup of coffee in our neighborhood, meet this month’s pop-ups and introduce yourself to a few people. 11:30 AM — Community storytime begins. 12:00 PM — Announcements open. If you're there, you can share (capacity limited). You can submit your announcement ahead of time at this link. 12:30 PM — Announcements close. Grab lunch in the area, explore neighboring creative spaces and arts studios that are open, etc.   HOW TO ATTEND This community meet-up is only $10 by donation, thanks to support from Future Front's members, donors, sponsors and partners. Guest Speaker + Co-Host Fabiana Meléndez Ruiz (she/her) is a Venezuelan-American communications expert and the co-founder and CEO of Refuerzo Collaborative, a Latina-owned agency focused on nurturing stories that reinforce community. With a deep passion for communication and strategic storytelling, she has worked on impactful campaigns for mission-driven organizations and is an advocate for including Spanish-speaking communities in media narratives. Fabiana has been recognized for her contributions to the field with numerous awards and actively participates in various community organizations. Guest Speaker + DJ Ed West ED WEST is a Native Texan, award-winning DJ, active event producer and community organizer in Austin, Texas. Ed is the founder of Austin-local mainstays ATX Trans Pride and Neon Rainbows. He is dedicated to serving the community and having fun. Guest Speaker + Co-Host Em Shapiro (they/them) is a queer filmmaker and educator based in Austin, passionate about care work and building community.
