About this event
One of 14 upcoming events at Gallery5, and 653 across Richmond.
Country, folk, roots, americana, outlaw Old Pup - warmly haunted folk outfit led by Milwaukee-based pedal steel player/songwriter Will Hansen, who writes lyrically vivid (at-times experimental) country-tinged songs. Sophomore album, 'Spider Towns,' released independently on March 5, 2025 & features intimate, ethereal recordings captured in living rooms, warehouse hallways, & wide-open fields spanning Milwaukee, New Orleans, & New Mexico. Hansen’s lyrical dexterity is at the forefront of this latest collection, seamlessly weaving the everyday with the interstellar. In the words of songwriter Chris Acker, “Old Pup is Rosetta-stoned.” Beyond songwriting, Old Pup also performs & writes ambient/experimental pedal steel explorations, with a new album 'Lion Spring Bird' due out October 9, 2026 via Island House Recordings. Pearl Snap Butt Flap - country, roots, americana from rva Drunk Mother - country rock, outlaw from rva
