Revegetation Planting Day at Mt. Shavano Hatchery

Colorado Parks & Wildlife and Policky Aquatics recently completed an aquatic habitat improvement project on the Arkansas River near the Mt. Shavano Fish Hatchery. Volunteers on behalf of Trout Unlimited and GARNA are needed to help plant sedges as the first stage of the revegetation process. We will be working at three sites in the area and should be out for about half the day. Anyone who has a sharpshooter shovel or pickmatic should bring them, but we’ll also have tools to use. Volunteers should wear sturdy boots or shoes, long pants and shirts, and bring work gloves, water, snacks, and rain gear. We’ll meet at the shop yard at the Mt. Shavano Fish Hatchery at 9:00 am, and will work until about 1:00 pm or we run out of plants. Register here
