Canadian Citizenship by Descent SIG

This SIG meets monthly on the second Sunday, 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm (PT), unless otherwise noted. Meetings are in-person at the GFO library. Meetings are not recorded. Additional information can be found on our Canadian Citizenship by Descent SIG page at https://gfo.org/learn/special-interest-groups/canadian-citizenship-by-descent.html The Canadian Citizenship by Ancestry SIG focuses on researching Canadian ancestors and applying for Canadian citizenship certificates (proof of citizenship) for individuals who are eligible for citizenship by descent under Canada’s 2025 revisions to the Citizenship Act. There is already a group of about 20 regulars who are interested in the latter and so that will probably remain the primary focus. Each meeting includes an update on the latest news affecting applicants, such as new procedures and requirements from the Canadian government. To get the most out of the SIG, we encourage you to bring your own application and whatever evidence you have gathered so far. There is no charge for anyone attending this meeting.
