About this event
One of 61 upcoming events at Genealogical Forum of Oregon, and 7,958 across Portland, Oregon.
Register at the Irish SIG page. If you are researching your Irish ancestors, please come join us. Irish genealogy requires knowing where your ancestors came from in Ireland before you can research them there – that can be a challenge all its own. Once you know that, you can continue your research in Ireland. We work on “both sides of the pond”. Have you experienced finding a genealogy resource in an unexpected place that helped progress your Irish research? At our meeting on August 21st come prepared to share a resource or reference that you have found. What did it add to your information about that ancestor? What was the process you went through to find it? For example: Not all newspapers are on the fee sites such as newspapers.com. Where else have you found local newspapers and how did you find it? In June the Irish SIG team announced that we will be ending our tenure with the October meeting. We need your help finding an individual or team to continue the SIG meetings after that. We can offer support during the fall for the new team or individual. We are eager to hear your thoughts and suggestions for continuing the GFO Irish SIG in 2025! We meet virtually (on Zoom) on the third Wednesday of the even months of February, April, June, August, and October (there is no meeting in December). Contact [email protected] for more information.
