GCV&M, along with organizations across the country, will hand over the mic, the space, and the storytelling to the next generation. Highlighting their voices, ideas, and leadership as we commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary and imagine new ways to build a stronger, more connected future. Here are just a few of the events going on FREE admission for Gen Z (age 14-30) Guided walking tours throughout the day Reenactment of a 19th century town hall Monroe County Board of Elections will be showcasing their new voting machine GUIDED TOURS (included with Admission) 11 a.m. | Meet the Animals MEET AT THE EARLY SETTLEMENT FARM (#6) Join our historical farmer for a tour of our farmyard friends. 1 p.m. | Toward Freedom & Fairness Tour MEET AT THE TOLL HOUSE (#1) Learn about the complicated history of enslavement and freedom in the Genesee Valley on this hour-long, guided tour. 2 p.m. | My Favorite Things MEET AT THE TOLL HOUSE (#1) Take a guided tour highlighting our favorite staff picks! 19TH-CENTURY HISTORIC VILLAGE Explore, see, and experience our Historic Village. We invite you to tour spaces and buildings representing home, civic, social, economic, farm, and religious life throughout the 1800s. Be sure to visit Nathaniel Rochester House (#12), open every day, to delve into the real and often untold history of enslavement and freedom in the Genesee Country. HISTORIC TRADESHOPS Visit and talk with our trades folks who both practice and preserve timeless skills. AGRICULTURE & GARDENS A variety of heritage animal breeds can be found throughout the Village at the Hetchler House & Early Settlement Farm (#6), the Livery Barn (#11), and Jones Farm (#14). Make sure to explore historic gardens throughout the Village, flourishing with both food and flowers! Animals and plants are for viewing only – please don’t feed, trample, touch, or pick. JOHN L. WEHLE GALLERY Home to one of the finest collections of sporting and wildlife art in America, and the dazzling Bruce & Susan Greene Costume Collection! Don’t miss the three featured exhibits currently on display. An Extraordinary Attraction: 50 Years of History, Art, & Nature Color Me Calico Perceived Realities: Wildlife, Land, & Myth. GENESEE COUNTRY NATURE CENTER Explore a variety of habitats on six trails ranging from .3 to 1.6 miles. SHOP Flint Hill Store: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Buy goods handcrafted in the Historic Village, Museum apparel, historic toys, treats, and more! EAT The Depot Restaurant: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (grill closes at 3 p.m.) Grab a burger and fries, ice cream specialties, salads, wraps All information is subject to change.
