Image is Best in Show Winner for Ed Cahill at Gilmer Arts 2025 Plein Air About Ed: Raised in the Midwest and introduced to painting and drawing at a young age Ed developed a passion for painting early on. Growing up in Akron, Ohio, he took classes at the Akron Art Institute He later attended Firestone High School before being accepted into Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1977. While raising a family, Ed worked in his family’s auto dealerships and eventually managed his own ad agency for twenty years, painting part-time. While living in Yardley, Pennsylvania, he was represented by the Golden Door Gallery in New Hope. Since 1996, he has lived in Marietta, Georgia. In 2012, he began participating in plein air events in Georgia and across the Southeast, winning dozens of awards, including ten first-place finishes.
