An 11 year-old boy when German soldiers overran Poland in 1939, Anschel was a Polish Jew who was clever beyond his years. Time after time, year after year, when captured by Nazi soldiers and armed SS guards, he repeatedly escaped. At the end of the war, he was a teenager and the only one in his family to survive the Holocaust. This is his story, adapted from a memoir of the same name, written by Renate Frydman, who will be in attendance for a Q&A following the performance. Presented in partnership with the Baltimore Jewish Council.
