This beginner-friendly course will cover the basics of woodcut printmaking. Beginner students will be fully supported throughout the design and printing process. Students will learn to introduce multiple colors within a design, including reduction, stencils, and gradients. Each student will create an edition of 4 x 6-inch prints using the Takach press or printing by hand. Students will leave the class with the knowledge and skills to create more woodblock prints on their own. Students are asked to bring the following supplies Pencils Sharpie (ultra fine point, black) Source images (photographs, sketches) Optional: Additional printmaking tools or papers you may have or want to use Sketchbook Your supply fee will cover the following supplies 4 x 6-inch woodblocks Shellac Spray and Sanding Block Akua Inks Printmaking Paper Tracing Paper Use of studio printmaking tools This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
