This watercolor workshop is an ideal, non-threatening way to be introduced to painting outdoors. Painting from life can feel intimidating at first, but it is a great way to become familiar with and understand your subject. Each day of this workshop will focus on a different element of the landscape. Catherine will give a short demonstration each morning with tips on how to simplify your subject, collect subjects for future studio work and manage the outdoor studio. She will circulate among students to offer suggestions or help. Students will have the option to paint as a group or go out on their own. A sharing session at the end of each day will give students a chance to see what other students have worked on. Evenings are open for a shared meal and socializing at the Bearskin Lodge. Catherine will be working in watercolor but welcomes all media. Students need to be able to navigate uneven, outdoor terrain and stairs as well as work outdoors for longer periods of time. Students will stay at Bearskin Lodge for the duration of the class and will arrive on Tuesday, May 12. Cost of meals is not included in the listed fee. See the supply list for full details.
