Artists are invited to explore interior spaces as a foundation for investigating perception, expression and abstraction. Using personal reference materials (photographs, sketches, or memories, for example), artists will investigate how everyday spaces can be transformed into dynamic compositions through color, shape, and spatial ambiguity. Guided exercises, demonstrations, and critiques will encourage experimentation with layered processes, intuitive mark-making, and the balance between structure and improvisation. Emphasis will be placed on developing a personal visual language while refining technical skills. By the end of the workshop, participants will create paintings derived from their chosen interior sources. Prerequisite: foundational knowledge in paint media working with.
