Wrought and Woven

Group show featuring the work of Leah Gerrard and Maria Cristalli. Both raised in the Pacific Northwest, Maria and Leah crossed paths in Seattle's tightly knit metalworking community in the early 2000's.  Leah ran a fabrication shop and Maria created exquisite one of a kind forged gates, railings and even a wishing well.  After about a decade and a half focused on architectural work, they both started to nurture their more creative sides. Leah returned to a self taught weaving technique to see how far she could push it's sculptural capabilities and Maria started to explore her love of the craft by pushing the boundaries of what is typically done with forged iron.Their friendship and mutual support has continued, they both were recently included in "Ferrous" at Sarah Spurgeon Gallery in Ellensburgh.Please join us at Gray Sky Gallery, 320 1st Ave S, Thursday, August 6th from 5-8 pm for the opening reception.
