Welcome to St. Nicholas Day! Come on down to the historic Vander Ende-Onderdonk House on Sunday, December 6th, for our annual St. Nicholas Day celebration! The Museum Grounds will be decorated seasonally outdoors and in our Tent for photos with St. Nicholas. We will have goody bags for children with a take home craft. Additionally, there will be refreshments available for purchase. Enter at Onderdonk Avenue Gate. This is an outdoor event, please dress accordingly. The true story of St. Nicholas began in the second century. Born into a wealthy family,Nicholas devoted his life to giving and became known for his generosity to the poor.Through the centuries, his legend grew, and he became the patron and protector ofchildren, sailors, travelers and all who are facing trouble and need help. St. Nicholas Day isstill widely celebrated in Europe and by many Dutch and European families here in America. The Greater Ridgewood Historical Society is a qualified 501(c)(3). This program is supported by public funding from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs in partnershipwith the NYC Council and by members of the Society. General Admission is $5 and FREE for children under 12. Please reserve General or Children’s tickets for all persons attending in your party. ALL ATTENDEES, BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN, MUST HAVE A TICKET. Last entry is at 3:45pm. The Greater Ridgewood Historical Society is excited to partner with the 104th Police Precinct on St. Nicholas Day to make the holiday spirit brighter for children and families.
