About this event
One of 27 upcoming events at Griffin Museum-Photography.
@ About The Griffin Museum and Jeff Larason are pleased to offer this four-session online program for photographers who have an existing body of street photography work and are looking to develop it further. You’ve made thousands of street photographs. But what comes next? Moving from a collection of individual photographs to a cohesive body of work is one of the greatest challenges street photographers face. This four-session online workshop is designed for photographers who have already begun a project, or who have accumulated a substantial body of images, and are ready to discover what their work is truly about. This is not a workshop about camera settings or making stronger individual photographs. Instead, it focuses on the creative process of transforming a collection of images into a meaningful photographic project. Through group critiques, editing exercises, discussion, and individual feedback, participants will identify recurring themes, discover connections between images, strengthen sequencing, and recognize what their work is asking of them. Together we’ll explore not only how to edit photographs, but how to recognize what your work is really saying, trust your own visual instincts, and develop a body of work that reflects your unique voice. Ultimately, photography isn’t simply about making photographs, it’s about learning to see. Not only the world around us, but ourselves. As projects evolve, they often reveal patterns, interests, and questions we didn’t know we were asking. This workshop is about learning to recognize those discoveries and giving them shape. Image © Jeff Larason Instructor Jeff Larason is a Boston-area photographer whose work explores solitude, light, reflection, and the quiet complexity of everyday public life. A street photographer since the 1980s, his photographs are defined by strong architectural structure, layered moments, and a deep sense of place. His recent exhibition, Solitude in Cities, at the Griffin Museum of Photography paired his photographs of Boston with Lynn Saville’s images of New York, exploring moments of stillness within the urban environment. Jeff was a finalist in the 2023 and 2025 Critical Mass Top 200 and is the creator and host of The Crit House, a YouTube interview series featuring many of today’s leading photographers discussing their work, influences, and creative process. A founding member of the Boston Street Collective, Jeff’s photobook Sonder was recognized among the best photobooks of 2020. His photographs have been exhibited internationally and published in The Guardian, The Boston Globe, and the Daily Mail (UK). His teaching emphasizes developing personal vision, thoughtful critique, and helping photographers create work that is both visually compelling and deeply meaningful. www.jefflarason.com Instagram @jeff_larason © Portrait of Jeff Larason The Griffin Museum of Photography Add to calendar Google Calendar iCalendar Outlook 365 Outlook Live Tickets Information
