Join us at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery on May 31 from 10 am–2 pm, to sketch where man-made architecture blends with nature. From the bridge overlooking Issaquah Creek, observe wildlife and the layered architecture of the fish ladder to explore overlapping forms, oblong perspective, and complex composition framing. Then learn to layer multiple elements into a single comprehensive sketch. This class is part of Viewfinder, a four-week outdoor workshop series that invites participants to explore shape, perspective, and imagination across four distinct landscapes. Each session focuses on a different visual theme, guiding artists of all levels to sharpen their observational skills and creative expression. The full series is: May 3 - Confluence Park May 17 - Rainier Trail (south of E. Sunset Way) May 31 - Issaquah Salmon Hatchery June 7 - Pedestrian Park Each day we will meet at 10am, with active instruction until 12pm and students are welcome to stay until 2pm to continue their work more informally. Students need to bring their own seating and supplies (sketchbook or paper, pens, watercolors, etc.). Please dress for the weather! Happy Time will provide viewfinders and bulldog clips (in case of wind). Taught by local artist Blayne Fox, this workshop is open to adults of any skill level.
