Art Classes Workshops Arts & Culture

Join us at the all-new Pedestrian Park on June 7 from 10 am–2 pm, to capture the energy of people in motion and the depth of a living streetscape! Learn to capture bystanders quickly by identifying whether you have seconds or minutes and which areas convey the gesture most effectively. Practice live at the intersection of Front St and Sunset Way, then shift your gaze toward the train station to tackle complex perspectives or the ornate details of the hydrangea-draped Issaquah Public Library. This session builds both spontaneity and spatial confidence to round out our series! This class is part of Viewfinder, a four-week outdoor workshop series that invites participants to explore shape, perspective, and imagination across four distinct landscapes. Each session focuses on a different visual theme, guiding artists of all levels to sharpen their observational skills and creative expression. The full series is: May 3 - Confluence Park May 17 - Rainier Trail (south of E. Sunset Way) May 31 - Issaquah Salmon Hatchery June 7 - Pedestrian Park Each day we will meet at 10am, with active instruction until 12pm and students are welcome to stay until 2pm to continue their work more informally. Students need to bring their own seating and supplies (sketchbook or paper, pens, watercolors, etc.). Please dress for the weather! Happy Time will provide viewfinders and bulldog clips (in case of wind). Taught by local artist Blayne Fox, this workshop is open to adults of any skill level.
