BioBlitz

Seeking volunteers to join this biodiversity mission to capture a snapshot of the species that call the Cold Brook Preserve home. This BioBlitz is part of a Cape-wide initiative to raise awareness for the importance of biodiversity and is a great opportunity to get outside, explore the great outdoors, and learn how to identify species from a number of taxonomic groups. Experts will meet with volunteers in the field for two-hour excursions to identify and document plants, mammals, reptiles, insects, and more. Volunteers should be comfortable walking off the trails through brush and high grasses (so please dress accordingly and perform tick checks after), wading into water for aquatic identification (please wear waders or water shoes and clothes that can get wet), and should have a smart phone capable of using the iNaturalist application. If you need assistance downloading iNaturalist, administrative volunteers and staff will be available to assist you on the day-of.
