About this event
One of 28 upcoming events at Harwich Conservation Trust, and 830 across Cape Cod.
Please join Naturalist Tom Walker in the National Seashore to discover the mysterious world of fungi. Fungi are everywhere: underground, under bark, inside dead leaves and wood, and even in insects. With a keen eye, we will search for members of this fascinating kingdom and learn about their crucial roles in the ecosystem. Some fungi are parasitic and steal nutrients from their host, but the majority actually provide numerous benefits to nearby vegetation. In fact, more than 90 percent of plants have a fungal partner to help them obtain water and nutrients. They also decompose dead organisms and facilitate the recycling of nutrients back into the earth.
