About this event
One of 5 upcoming events at Henry L. Inman Colonia Branch Library.
Join us for an opening reception for "Pattern Play" a Juried Art Exhibit at Gallery on Main. About "Pattern Play" Patterns give shape and meaning to the world around us, which helps to create order, balance and symmetry. Patterns surround us, both in nature and in man’s creations. The human brain constantly processes, recognizes and predicts patterns to understand our environment. We remember and learn by storing and encoding patterns and can predict upcoming events by recognizing these stored patterns. This pattern recognition ability is the foundation of human intelligence and allows for complex thought, language and creativity. Artists were invited to investigate how patterns and repetition can create new understandings and interpretations by exploring rhythm, harmony and movement in a composition.
