Register Now Artist Nicole Goldman will share the inspiration, process, and construction behind her fiber art vessels featured in Second Chances, the Fiber Fusion exhibit at Highfield Hall & Gardens. In 2002, Goldman and her family embarked on a journey across oceans and continents, immersing themselves in centuries of cultural tradition. The impressions left by each country — textures, colors, patterns and iconography — became the seeds for a body of work that translates memory into form. Through quilted collage, embroidery, coiling, basketry, and weaving, Goldman transforms these experiences into vessels that serve as containers of memory — not replicas, but interpretations shaped by both place and hand. In this talk, she will discuss the stories behind individual pieces, demonstrate her techniques, and invite reflection on how art can carry the spirit of a moment in time while connecting us across cultures.
