Paint the Queen of the Missions with Kathie Odom

November 7, 2026 - November 9, 2026 615 W. Ashby Place San Antonio, TX 78212 Day 1 in the studio at Hindes Fine Art, Days 2 and 3 on location at Mission San Jose. Join Kathie for three days of plein air painting at Mission San Jose y San Miguel de Aguayo in San Antonio. Students will paint the Texas landscape and stone structures of this historic site, including the granary, archways, grist mill, and grand two-story Convento. Great attention will be given through Kathie's demos and individual instruction on site. 15 students max. $150 non-refundable deposit. Following is the palette I use. Please bring good quality paint, no student grade paints. (I find that students get frustrated with student grade or cheaper brands of oil paint when trying to learn some of my color mixing and techniques). *Note Below: Different Companies may use the same color names but they are actually different hues! (example – Gamblin’s Cad Yellow Deep is different from Winsor Newton’s Cad Yellow Deep). Please note the words: THIS IS REQUIRED PAINTING SUPPLIES – THESE ARE REQUIRED Bring your own, but I use Rosemary Brushes… visit Rosemaryandco.com and search for Kathie Odom’s Brush Set (This will show the types and sizes of brushes I use). My favorite is a #279 and I will use it A LOT ! I use Centurion OP DLX Deluxe Oil Primed Linen Panels and sometimes I use Raymar C15DP. The quality of the primed linen surface allows for versatility in the movement of paint. LINEN CANVASES ARE REQUIRED… NO COTTON CANVASES Bring a variety of sizes… for painting plein air I use 12x16, 14x18, 16x20, 12x20, 15x24 (if bringing a larger canvas is a hardship because of travel, simply bring a couple additional smaller ones) If you are flying (or not) the Raymar Wet Carriers are ideal for travel! These are the materials I use. I am aware that it’s a substantial investment (BUT WORTH IT!). Bring an open spirit ready to try new things and come ready to enjoy being with kindred spirits !!!
