Historic Rock Ford's America250 Lecture Series welcomes Joseph Seymour as he presents “Who Where the Pennsylvania Associators?” Authorized 21 November 1747 by resolution of the Military Association, and organized 7 December 1747 at Philadelphia, the Associators eventually organized in all Pennsylvania and Delaware counties served the colony and state until superseded by the passage of the Militia Law, 17 March 1777. Members of the units thereafter reorganized as elements of the Pennsylvania Militia. Over its thirty years of existence, Associators served the colony and state in numerous capacities. The talk will focus on the service of some of their more notable members, and the ways in which their service intersected with that of Edward Hand. This presentation will begin at 6:30 PM in the Langmuir Education Room located on the first floor of the Rock Ford Barn. Please note that admission is for the lecture only and does not include the Snyder Gallery. About the Presenter: Joseph Seymour attended Lewis and Clark College, the Pennsylvania State University, the University of Edinburgh, and Temple University, earning a BA and an MA. As a historian with the US Army, he has focused on Army force structure and unit history, where he prepare lineage and honors certificates, especially units of the Army National Guard. In addition to his duties with the US Army, his professional focus has been on the history and culture of the American soldier during the long 18th century, the evolution of tactics and small arms during that era, and the US Army in World War I. $5 RFF Member; $10 Non-Member PURCHASE TICKETS HERE!
