Music of Remembrance, nationally recognized for compelling programs that confront social injustice, opens its new season with stories of migration and the search for safety. Featuring “Different Trains” by American composer Steve Reich, which captures the sounds and voices from childhood U.S. cross-country train trips to visit divorced parents during WWII. Also, “Stormy Seas,” an MOR commission by Iranian American composer Sahba Aminikia recounting the true stories of five child boat refugees, and more music honoring those who have sought freedom and sanctuary.
