From Huguenot Street

In the history of European music, the seventeenth-century transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque era is often seen as a move toward dramatic soloist music and away from polyphonic music that featured multiple, equal voices together. However, during the Baroque era, great and innovative polyphony continued to be composed alongside the brilliant, new music for featured soloists. To sketch some of this exciting musical scene and its context, Hudson Valley Baroque will perform music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750), Georg Philipp Telemann (1681 – 1767), Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525 – 1594), and Arcangelo Corelli (1753 – 1713). The performers will be Joel Evans, oboe; Ruthanne Schempf, harpsichord; Christiana Fortune-Reader, viola and violin; Susan Seligman, cello; and Gregory Bynum, recorder. $20 General Admission $15 Discounted Admission for HHS members, seniors, students, active military personnel and their families, and veterans $10 Youth Admission for kids ages 13-17 Free for children ages 12 and under
