The award-winning Telegraph Quartet comes to Cold Spring Harbor with The Romantic Thread, a program tracing a musical conversation across generations through Beethoven, Szymanowski and Brahms. Founded in San Francisco in 2013, the quartet won the Grand Prize at the 2014 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and the 2016 Walter W. Naumburg Chamber Music Award and is currently Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Michigan. The Romantic Thread pairs Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 135, Szymanowski’s String Quartet Op. 37 and Brahms’s String Quartet Op. 51, No. 1—music separated by time but connected through an evolving expressive tradition.
