Curious about zines? Join us for a fun and creative Zine-Making Workshop at Spirit of Huntington! These beginner-friendly sessions are open to the entire community and welcome participants of all experience levels. A zine (pronounced zeen, short for magazine) is a small, DIY booklet that you create yourself using drawing, writing, collage, photos, and other creative materials. Zines have a long history in underground and independent art communities, especially gaining popularity in the 1980s and 90s when artists and writers would photocopy and distribute their handmade mini-magazines to share ideas, stories, art, and personal expression. In this workshop, participants will learn how to fold and assemble their own zines while exploring creative techniques like collage, scrapbooking, drawing, and mixed media. Instructors will guide you through the process while encouraging experimentation and self-expression in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
