William Low – Light Remembered at Gallery North, Setauket

Exhibition Dates July 16 – August 23, 2026 Opening Reception Thursday, July 16, 2026 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Gallery North is pleased to present Light Remembered, William Low’s first solo exhibition at Gallery North features small and large scale oil paintings. From the seaside suburbia of Long Island and Cape Cod to the bustling urban cityscapes of Hong Kong and New York City, Low transports viewers by combining his modern approach to composition and a classical handling of light. Low relies on his perceptive memory whether it’s guided by the radiant glow of light reflected by monumental skyscrapers or the glimmers that dance through the leaves along a tree lined street. The viewer’s own experiences are recalled through Low’s captured energy of the passing moment and the sensations of being present in these vastly different environments. Born in New York City, Low received his BFA from Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, NY and his MA at Syracuse University. Clients and commissions for his work include US Postal Service Stamp Designs, The New York Daily News Sunday Magazine, The New York Times and MTA Arts & Design program. Low’s paintings are in numerous permanent collections including Houston’s Restaurants Nationwide, Reading Public Museum and Rosewood Hotel Hong Kong. Exhibitions include Museum of the City of New York’s, This Is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture 2024, and The Heckscher Museum of Art’s Long Island Biennial 2026. Low is a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He is currently based in Huntington, NY.
